Hello
My name is Paul Pavik, and I am a retired Baltimore County School Teacher. I was living in Maryland when my wife Karen was diagnosed with CJD in Late May of 2014. My wife Karen passed away on July 4th that same year. The Johns Hopkins doctors, medical staff and caregivers were very professional and caring through the entire process.
I became involved with the CJD Foundation in 2015 while still in Maryland. It was here that I also became involved with Strides for CJD to help develop awareness and raise funds for Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease and Prion research.
When I moved to Florida to help take care of my parents, I discovered that there was not any awareness walk here. So, I called the CJD Foundation and began a walk last year to help raise funds and awareness for this devastating disease.
This year, the Southwest Florida Strides for CJD wants to expand the range of awareness to include the medical community and invite you to help support us with sponsorship and creating awareness for families and patients that are diagnosed with CJD and Prion disease. We are here as a support group for these families.
Paul Pavik
Captain of the Southwest Florida Strides for CJD.
