Over the last 30 years Hurricane McMurray (myself and 3 children, now all in their 20s) have shared our home with assorted creatures ranging from an Albino California King snake, a lop-eared bunny, several dogs and cats, a Bearded Dragon, and four ADORABLE (slightly stinky) ferrets!
Many, but not all, were rescues. In retrospect I couldn't tell them apart in terms of the love and joy they brought to our family home.
My current flat-mates are Fergus, a terrier mix from C.A.R.E., and Tinkerbell, a former farm cat who is 16 going-on 17.
There are many, many animals in need of homes! Some were surrendered by owners who can no longer care for them for any number of reasons, others were abandoned after they are no longer of use or interest to someone who never should have become a pet-owner in the first place, and still others were born as strays, destined to a brutal life on the street but for the intervention of a Rescue Shelter.
