My Personal Fundraising Page

Dear Friends: Please donate to support me as I participate in The Education Fund’s Teach-A-Thon. I’m excited to step into the shoes of a teacher and actually teach a lesson! But what will happen when the students are staring and waiting for me to engage them in learning? Think about it – you remember a teacher who inspired you? They made it seem easy. Today’s educators face more challenges than ever before. I’m becoming a Teacher Champion to experience the classroom and to inspire the children in our community. YOU can cheer me on to TEACHING VICTORY! More importantly, I NEED YOU to donate to support my class of students and all of the students and teachers that The Education Fund helps via its vast efforts to improve public education. To learn more about this campaign or the work of The Education Fund, visit The Education Fund’s website at www.educationfund.org. At this site, you will learn about the amazing Food Forests helping students improve eating habits and science scores; college & career programs that put inner-city kids on the path to success, their annual Taste of Education culinary arts competition, a warehouse that annually provides $1,000,000 in supplies for teachers and their students, and more! Please know that your tax-deductible donation (as allowable by law) is an investment in our children’s future. Thank you, in advance, for supporting me – an Education Champion! I promise to let you know my results, assuming I ‘survive’ my day in the classroom. I am happy to report that I taught a 2ND grade Arts class on January 20, 2022 for Ms. Erika Reboucas at Pinecrest Academy South. This was a VIRTUAL class so I was a little nervous about how I would engage such young persons from a screen. Well I must say the experience was so rewarding and the students interacted and participated very well! I started off with an ice breaker: I started with myself and then each table was given a chance to tell us one thing about themselves (i.e. hobby, favorite sports team, etc). Some students were excited and raising their hand to speak before we reached their table! Then I read the book Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold to the class followed by some questions about the book, which the students were really enthusiastic about responding to. A great sign they were paying close attention during the reading! Then the class worked on some Art and drew images from the book including their own quilts! Thank you for the email Ms. Erika and the pictures from the class! What an amazing experience!
