Support My Fundraising Efforts

Thanks for the interest in learning about this cause. This year I'm planning to run the Chicago Marathon and help this amazing organization collect funds to raise awareness and educate teens about depression. I think some of us know what depression feels like. Some others didn't even know they were depressed, perhaps they thought they were just "sad", or maybe you knew it, talked about it and did therapy, because you could afford it, or you couldn't, but read about it and learnt how to deal with it. But what happens when you are a teenager with no money, not knowing what depression is and no one is around to guide you and help you to get through it?. As some of you know, I started running right before the pandemic, fortunately I incorporated this exercise as part of my weekly routine which helped me to keep my head out of the water during the rough times. Nowadays, I keep running. Each run has a different purpose: some runs are just for fun, some others to challenge myself and others to challenge and motivate my friends. One of my favorite ones are the SOLO runs, because running is like meditation to me. It's hard to believe it but that's how I feel, I learnt how to deal with negative thoughts through running and that's why I decided to support this cause! We do have the tools within us, sometimes all we need is guidance! Any amount will get us a step closer to the goal! Many thanks, Carlos Sanchez

Erika's Lighthouse is determined to make sure no young person feels alone in their depression. We are dedicated to creating a community of empathy and education. We create middle school and high school teen depression awareness programs so educators and teens can create safe spaces to learn about depression, letting students know they are never alone, and there is somewhere to turn.
