Please support me as I challenge myself to raise awareness and educate teens about depression. 10 years ago, I had my first ever internship as a junior in high school at Erika's Lighthouse - developing depression and suicide awareness materials for high schools throughout the Chicagoland area. Since then, Erika's Lighthouse has grown exponentially, reaching thousands of teens each year, educating them about mental health and providing valuable resources for support. As I work to pursue my doctorate in psychiatric nursing, I am fueled with energy and a passion for helping those struggling with mental health issues, just like Erika's Lighthouse does day in and day out. What better reason to run your first marathon than for an organization like this?!

Erika's Lighthouse is determined to make sure no young person feels alone in their depression. They use a unique four-pillar approach designed to help schools create an inclusive school culture around mental health by empowering students, educators, and families; this program encompasses classroom educaton, teen empowerments, faily engagement and school policy and staff development. In February 2023, the CDC Youth Risk Behavior Survey published alarming data: 42% of surveyed students reported persistent feelings of sadness of hopelessness, 22% seriously considered attempting suicide, and 10% attempted suicide. Help us help them.
