Max Samson

Having grown up running cross country in England, I am looking forward to participating in my first marathon in the city I have called home for the past six years. As an educator and working closely with teens in various capacities for most of my adult life, I am very cognizant of the importance of supporting adolescents emotionally, and through both my teaching and my writing, strive to mitigate mental health issues and tackle the stigma surrounding them. For these reasons, Erika’s Lighthouse’s mission immediately resonated with me, and I am delighted to be part of Team Resilience. Any support you can provide will be most appreciated, as I challenge myself to complete the marathon and, crucially, raise awareness for this important cause. Erika's Lighthouse is determined to make sure no young person feels alone in their depression. We are dedicated to creating a community of empathy and education. We create middle school and high school teen depression awareness programs so educators and teens can create safe spaces to learn about depression, letting students know they are never alone, and there is somewhere to turn.
