Snow City Arts inspires and educates children and youth in Chicagoland hospitals through the arts. 

The teaching artists of Snow City Arts (SCA) provide children an outlet to be creative and make choices for themselves, in an environment where most of their decision making is taken away.  For a brief moment, the hospital room is transformed into an interesting, creative, and engaging break from the reality of being ill and in the hospital.   SCA students can choose to paint, draw, make music or a film, write poetry or a play – all under the guidance of a professional artist.  

Team Snow City Arts is running the Hot Chocolate 5k/15k and raising money as a group to help SCA continue their important work in hospitals.  Last year, more than 60 runners raised over $35,000 for SCA, and this year we are aiming to beat that fundraising total!

Here are a few examples of what different dollar amounts can do for Snow City Arts. As you can see, every dollar can have a great impact!

$25 Can purchase a set of watercolor paints for use in a visual arts workshop
$50 Can purchase a case of Model Magic, a high quality, non-allergenic, sculpting
clay that is a staple of Snow City Arts workshops. 
$100 Can purchase high quality sets of drawing pens and sketchbooks for 5 students
$250 can purchase a copy of Final Cut, a studio-quality music editing software
$500 can purchase an iPad used to bring filmmaking, music editing, and stop-motion
animation to a student’s bedside
$1,000 provides the visual arts supplies for an entire year at one of our hospitals!
