Alexandra Savoia's Fundraising Page

Hey everyone! I’m Alexandra (or Alex), and this is my first year on the Snow City Arts’ Race Committee (we will be running in the Hot Chocolate Race on November 4th). I’ve been working at Rush for just about a year now in the technology project management sphere, and I’ve been searching for a way to be more impactful on the people I’m surrounded by each and every day on a more personal  level. Then I was introduced to Snow City Arts, and now I get to do just that :)

Guys, I’m so excited to be part of such an AMAZING cause that provides kids fresh perspectives and creatively opens their minds and hearts during a time that they may be feeling at their worst. Let me share Snow City Arts’ mission statement and some informational background so you can get just as excited as I am:

Mission Statement: SCA inspires and educates children and youth in hospitals through the arts.

SCA provides one-on-one instruction in the visual arts, creative writing, music, theater, and media arts to patients at Rush University Children’s Hospital, Ann and Robert H Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Children’s Hospital University of Illinois, and Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital.

As doctors and nurses care for children’s medical needs, Child Life Specialists, therapists, social workers, and other hospital employees address the psycho-social needs of the hospitalized children. SCA augments those services in each hospital they serve by addressing a child’s developmental and education needs through the arts. Teaching artists typically work with an individual child at his/her bedside and track their progress.

Doctors find the illness, Snow City Arts finds the artist.

If you can, please make a donation to support Snow City Arts! If not, thank you for taking the time to read about it and for all your positive thoughts :)
