On April 25, we’ll be lacing up our shoes and heading to the Houston Epilepsy Zoo Walk—a cause that means the world to our family. As many of you know, our journey with epilepsy is deeply personal. Watching our daughter, Olivia Violet, face each challenge with courage inspires us to act and advocate so that no one walks this path alone. And soon, she'll represent others as a Walk Ambassador for The Woodlands Epilepsy Walk in November!
The Epilepsy Foundation Texas provides life-changing programs—specialized medical clinics, youth camps, and mental health support—completely free to families like ours. This year, the goal is to make Houston the “Safest City in Texas” by leading the state in Seizure First Aid (SFA) certifications. By increasing awareness and training, we can ensure that more people know what to do when a seizure happens.
How you can help:
- Donate: Every dollar helps us reach the $120,000 goal and supports critical programs across our community.
- Join our team: Come walk with us (Violet's Village) at the Zoo—it’s a day filled with hope, laughter, and connection. BUT - if April 25 doesn't work, mark your calendars for November 14 for our Woodlands Epilepsy Walk where Chris and I are co-chairs and Olivia is a walk ambassador!!!
- Learn Seizure First Aid: Take the SFA Challenge at learn.epilepsy.com—just 90 minutes could make you someone’s hero.
Thank you for walking beside us, supporting families like ours, and helping Houston become truly #SFAReady. Together, we can create more understanding, safety, and hope for everyone living with epilepsy. ?
