I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 12, and in the past 17 (almost 18!) years, I've undergone 5 brain surgeries, 2 brain bleeds/ strokes, and spent countless days and nights at Texas Children's Hospital. Growing up, it truly became my second home.

During COVID, my brain decided it needed a break from the seizures- and I've been seizure-free since! (Aside from the "wonderful" bleed in 2023.) I went from always being in the passenger seat to driving and having my own car. I'll never forget the day my doctor confirmed I was able to be behind the wheel. I honestly thought that day would never come.

From barely making it through a day at work without a seizure to now working a full-time job in the mental health field- a job I absolutely love.

Life can change in the blink of an eye. Working in the mental health field has shown me we have to celebrate the good days, the progress, the small victories, and be thankful for the people and blessings in our lives.
