Please Help Me with this Amazing Work!
What a great year Future Forward for Haiti has had working with our
partners in Trois Mares and Chapottin, Haiti!! In June our travel team
joined the Trois Mares community to celebrate the graduation of ten of our
students from 6th grade. All ten students passed the government-
administered examination and will attend secondary school this academic
year. Also, 25 adults learned to read through our Adult Literacy Program
in Trois Mares.
In Chapottin, the travel team witnessed the completion of a 22,000-gallon
cistern with a filtering device to provide clean water for our children and
their families in that village. Both schools are thriving and our reliable
sponsors are contributing monthly to compensate the teachers and cooks
for their valuable work with the students.
On Saturday, November 12, 2016, once again, I plan to join hundreds of
volunteers at the Teaneck Packathon to pack 100,000 school
lunches for these children in Haiti. Also we plan to help farmers
and businesses in Haiti by locally sourcing food for an additional 50,000
meals.
The children are students in the LIght and Peace Schools in Trois Mares
and Chapottin, way out in the mountains of Haiti. Without school lunches,
many of them cannot count on getting even one meal a day. We plan to
provide a reliable, nutritious, daily lunch program all year
for the 450 children in the two schools that we support. It will take a lot of
food--almost 10 tons of rice, beans, vegetables and healthy vitamins. We
need to raise money to buy these ingredients
.Reaching our goal of $53,000 will mean:
- Lunches for 450 students 5 days a week, 12 months a year in 2017;
- A classroom for Grade 6 so they can meet indoors in all weather.
Of the total, I am making it my personal goal to raise $1000. I will appreciate
a contribution of any amount towards this goal.
