Vero Beach Rowing Fall Fundraiser
Thank you for visiting the Vero Beach Rowing Fall Fundraising Page! The VBR Junior team is on the move, taking seats in open water. Since our transition from Scholastic to Club in fall of 2017, we have seen a growth in both opportunity and cost. Our new need to race other club teams at bigger races (outside of the region) has put a real strain on our families to afford the increased travel expenses. This Fall we will be sending two boats to the Head of the Charles in Boston and all of our junior athletes will row in the Head of the South in Augusta ,GA.
Our athletes aren't looking for a handout. We are looking for support but we don't expect to be given support without showing you our passion and dedication to each other, to the community, and to our club's mission: To promote and teach the sport of rowing to the community in order to develop physical fitness, personal character and an ethic of cooperation through competitive and recreational opportunities
Our goal this fall is to raise $40,000 through two main events that will test and strengthen our junior athletes physical fitness, personal character and their ethics of cooperation - Big Time! The first event, on October 27-28, is our "24 hours for 24K" Ergathon that will be hosted by our excellent strength and conditioning partners at Orchid Island Crossfit. The kids will keep one rowing machine spinning for 24 hours straight, taking shifts throughout the night. Each of our clubs 40 junior athletes has been challenged to raise at least $600 to meet the goal of 24K!
The second event will take place the very next weekend. On the morning of November 3rd our junior athletes will be taking part in a joint exercise with US Navy Seals. At 0530, our Juniors will meet at the Navy Seal Museum where they will divide into four teams to complete a 22,000 meter erg relay, a run through the Navy Seal obstacle course (led by two active Navy Seals), and then run the Muster 5k. This event we call the "BearCage".
Both of these events will test and stregthen our junior athletes commitment to the sport of rowing ,to themsleves and to each other. We are proud of these kids and we hope that you will join us in acknowleding and rewarding their commitmment through a gift to tax deductible gift the Vero Beach Rowing Club! Thank you in advance for supporting this great group of young people and supporting our mission!
