Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!  As you may know, I suffer from Lupus and have for the last 31+ years. All of you who know how much of an independent, strong willed person I have always been, and now I am asking for your help. Lupus is a debilitating & incurable disease that affects least 30,000 Wisconsinites, 1.5 million Americans, and over 5 MILLION world-wide, of those, 90% are women!

I am no longer doing this for myself. I am hoping to help make a difference in this fight for the young people to have a chance against this dreaded disease. Way too many young people are dying from complications brought on by this disease. 

Lupus is one of the cruelest, most mysterious diseases on earth—it strikes without warning, has unpredictable, sometimes fatal effects, lasts a lifetime, and has no known cause and no known cure. It is more pervasive than people think, and impacts people on a scale that the public does not realize. People like you are now becoming aware of how urgently resources are needed to fight lupus, and to help those who suffer from it. If you join the fight, we will not have to concede victory to this terrible disease. If you join the fight, we will be able to solve the cruel mystery of lupus in our lifetime and end its devastating impact on millions of lives.

With Lupus, something goes wrong with the immune system, which is the part of the body that fights off viruses, bacteria, and germs. The result is the production of auto-antibodies that causes inflammation, pain, and damage in various parts of the body.  Imagine flu like symptoms. Joint pain and swelling. No energy, totally exhausted. Living with this 24/7! With Lupus, your immune systems thinks you have a virus, but you don't. Your immune system attacks what it thinks is the virus and that turns out to be you! Your joints, muscles, skin, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, etc. If the lupus itself doesn't do damage, then most of the medications prescribe can. Low dose chemotherapy, anti-rejection drugs, malaria drugs, and the list goes on.
