The Walk to Squash Hunger & Community Harvest Festival
Why Walk to Squash Hunger?
Why Walk to Squash Hunger?
In short, we walk because no person should experience hunger in a country with plentiful food and resources. When you join the Walk to Squash Hunger, you are contributing to The Community Kitchen’s mission of providing nutritious food to people in the Monadnock Region. With cuts to SNAP benefits, and the increased costs of living, we are experiencing even greater numbers of people who are seeking food assistance. These people are from every background and demographic and are doing everything they can to put food on the table for their families.
When you participate in the 1st Annual Walk to Squash Hunger, your registration and fundraising efforts contribute directly to The Community Kitchen’s ability to continue feeding thousands of people in need of food assistance throughout the Monadnock region.
More importantly, you are helping to nourish the people who you live among, building a stronger and more resilient community.
And you’ll be Walkin’ and Squashin’ it on the beautiful Rail Trail!
You can choose whether to challenge yourself with the full 10-mile loop or you can do the shorter (up to) 2.5-mile walk. You can even hop, skip, or run if you like! Can't join the party in person on 8/29? No problem! You can sign up to Walk your way and squash hunger at your own pace, just sign up for the virtual course.
With a minimum fundraising commitment of $35 (we’ll throw in a t-shirt when you hit $50) you’ll be helping us provide meals to people facing food insecurity. Every step moves us closer to being a region where everyone has enough nutritious food.
