MY STORY

I am fundraising for CDSS because I want to help other kids and adults with Down Syndrome learn how to read.
Reading is important for me in my life! BeauseI can read, I can read instructions and recipes as I learn to cook. When I was working at Swiss Chalet I had to be able to read my list of jobs without help and on my own. I have been taking singing lessons this year. Because I know how to read, I have been able to learn and sing the lyrics to all the songs I am learning. During COVID I have been able to use my computer and download songs and find music for my playlists. It is also important for me to be able to read because I am celiac and I need to be able to check food labels and find out what is safe to eat! 
Reading allows me to be independent. I can check my calendar for appointments and message my brother and friends. 
Everyone with DS should have the chance to read. I want to raise money so others can read too!  Steven
