Our Owen loves to read.  When you are looking for him, you will most often find him with a book in his hand.  He takes great pride in reading out loud and telling you about all the adventures the characters in his book are getting up to.   He loves to tell stories and I am certain this boy will one day be an author or a story teller of some kind.     

Rewind to when he was a baby and people told us that he may never learn to read.    We ignored this and searched out programs that we believed would help him.   We showered him with books and we (ok mainly his Dad) nutured his imagination by telling the most marvellous bedtime stories.   It all worked - as not a day goes by that this boy doesn't ask "may I go read now"? 

We believe that all children and adults with Down syndrome have the right and ability to read and we are excited to support the CDSS Walk for Awareness in support of a national literacy programs.   Join Owen's Book Club and   walk with us where you and if you can, please support our team by making a donation.   Lets makes sure that people with Down syndrome across Canada experience that same joy of reading that our beloved Owen does.
