Volunteers Needed!

To make this event as successful as possible, we need a few awesome volunteers. Take a look at the service opportunities below, and if you are interested in signing up or if you need more information, please email the Event Coordinator, Jennifer Brown at jbrown@staralaska.org. Individuals and groups are welcome!

Event Day Setup

Help us set up for the party by showing up to unload tables, chairs, displays, tents, supplies for rest stations, and decorations.

Shift time:  9am - 11am

Registration/Check In

Be part of our Welcome Crew and assist participants with checking in, turning in donations, and getting their Walk bibs.

Shift time:  10am - 12pm

Shoe Keepers

Help participants pick up or pick out the shoes they will be wearing for the Walk, and organize an area to keep their "everyday" shoes and other belongings secure while they walk.

Shift time:  10:30am - 1:00pm

Lap Counters

Our Walk course for participants will be three laps on the paved path around the pond.  A few volunteers will be needed to keep track of walkers as they complete each lap of the course.

Shift time:  11:30am - 1pm

Photographers

People from all walks of life will be strutting their stuff in heels in the beautiful Alaskan outdoors, so this couldn't be more fun to photograph!  A shot list will be provided to include posed, candid, in-action and team photos.

Shift time:  10:30am-1:00pm

Cheerleaders

This Walk is no easy task for our participants in heels, so they need help staying motiviated, appreciated, smiling, and laughing through the whole process.  Bring your pom-poms, signs, and noisemakers to encourage, thank and congratulate our high-heeled warriors for signing up, showing up, crossing the start line, checkpoints and finish line.

Shift time:  11:00am - 1:00pm

Water & First Aid Stations

3-4 water/first aid stations will be placed along the course where volunteers will hand out water to participants, and be ready to help in case someone needs a band aid, ice pack, or a rest.

Shift time:  11:30pm-1pm

Clean Up & Load Out

This year is our first year at Cuddy Park, and we want to leave it better than we found it.  We will need help picking up trash, taking down chairs, tables, signage and water stations.  Many hands make light work so we hope to have lots of help with this one.

Shift time:  1pm-2pm
