Auburn BJJ Open Mat — Supporting Veterans Through Jiu Jitsu

I'm raising money for the We Defy Foundation

My name is Peter Ingram, a local veteran and longtime member of the Auburn community. Jiu Jitsu has been one of the most important constants for the last 10 years— it's kept me grounded, connected, and engaged with the people around me. That's exactly why I'm proud to host this fundraising open mat at Auburn Jiu Jitsu, a We Defy Foundation-affiliated gym.

The We Defy Foundation (WDF) provides combat veterans coping with military-connected disabilities a long-term means to overcome their challenges through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It is a proven, effective alternative therapy for veterans managing PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Through training, veterans reconnect with community, rebuild structure, and find a welcoming home on the mats — something I've experienced firsthand.

$0.82 of every dollar donated goes directly to program expenses — funding a full year of gym fees and equipment for a veteran in need. A single scholarship costs approximately $2,500.

Join us on May 30th, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Auburn BJJ, 758 E Glenn Ave, Auburn, AL for a morning of open mat and meaningful impact.
