3rd Annual JFCS Wheels for Meals

Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Greater Mercer County (JFCS) invites you to the 3rd Annual Wheels for Meals, bike ride to fight hunger, taking place on Sunday morning, October 15, 2023.

Now more than ever, food is a serious need in our region, where 1 in 12 individuals in Mercer County are hungry. The more immediate and pressing issue is the annual inflation rate in the US, which has risen to the highest level in 40 years. The families we serve were further disadvantaged starting in March, when SNAP Emergency Allotments that were authorized by Congress in response to the COVID19 pandemic, were discontinued. It is estimated that low-income households will see an average monthly decrease of $82 per person once the SNAP Emergency Allotments ended.

JFCS maintains an array of hunger prevention programs to address food insecurity:

    • On-site brick-and-mortar pantry open 5 days a week
    • Two mobile food pantry vehicles making more than 25 stops per month
    • Kosher Cafe serving hot lunches to low-income seniors 4 days a week
    • Kosher Meals on Wheels delivering weekly meals to homebound seniors

Event proceeds benefit all JFCS food distribution programs.
