Hello Supporters,
Thanks in advance for both your support and generosity! I am so grateful to have the ability to participate in Women Swimmin which generates significant financial resources to support Hospicare. After years of being a support boater and volunteer for the event, I decided to swim in 2022. I do so in memory of my beloved friend, Patti Papapietro, and several other loved ones who benefited tremendously from this outstanding organization.
Committing to swim has been transformative for me. Not only has participating as a swimmer been tremendously moving, but I also have developed a deeper appreciation for my health and abilities, and swimming has become part of my year-round, well-being routine. Thanks to a dear friend, Kim, who has grown to love the lake as much as I, and who shares a similar adventurous spirit- we are now swimming all year in Cayuga Lake. Of course, we do not need to do so in order to prepare ourselves for the swim in August, but both find peace that being in the lake (particularly in winter) instills and the beauty it, and the ecosystem within and around, affords us. So, this past winter we invested in thermal wetsuits, gloves and booties...put on our swim caps and wool hat and remain committed to a couple of swims each week. In fact, we completed 50 swims between January 1st and June 1st this year!
As we move into summer, the water warms, and the swim gets closer, my gratitude for being able to participate grows. I appeciate each and every one of you for your well wishes and for any amount you can contribute to the fabulous Hospicare organization.
Love and health to you and yours,
Beth
