I'll be participating for my 6th year in Hospicare's Women Swimmin' fundraiser. Since I'm not a lake swimmer, I'll be part of their "Go the Distance" option. In previous years I focused on exercise, but this year I'm trying something different. I call it the "30 minute plan". Since retiring in 2019, there have been several projects that I meant to do, but never actually started because they loomed too large. And then I think, "If I'd been spending half an hour a day on xyz, I'd have made a lot of progress by now." So my 30 minute plan is to pick a few projects, and spend at least 30 minutes a day on them. Right now I'm thinking about organizing my thousands of photos, and catching up on reading material that I've saved over the years.
I like to participate in honor of my Mom, who benefited greatly from Hospice care in New York City at the end of her life back in 2018. Since I live near Ithaca, I am supporting our local Hospicare.
The funds raised have a huge impact on the resources available to Hospicare to provide compassionate end-of-life care and help Hospicare to:
- Provide vital medications to ease pain and manage symptoms
- Provide specialized medical equipment so patients can stay in their own homes
- Train volunteers to deliver complementary therapies to enhance comfort and peace
- Offer grief counseling sessions
- Provide intensive round-the-clock care at the Hospicare residence for patients who need more care than they can receive in their own homes.
If you can, please join me in supporting their work by making a donation on my fundraising page - you’ll find a "Donate Now" button to the right. I hope you'll consider making a gift.
Wishing you good health and happiness,
Caroline
