My first swim was in 2022 and I dedicated that swim (and this one) to my best swimmer Kathy.  She had gotten the news that her cancer had returned 9 months earlier and that the cancer was aggressive. She knew it was terminal and was preparing with her family for the inevitable. That came much sooner than expected and she passed in hospice weeks after camping, hiking mountains and swimming in lakes together.  I'm forever blessed for the memories she and I made that summer - but more so eternally grateful for the hospice care she received in her last days.  

I wish all of us could weave our last days into a beautiful tapestry that Kathy had that summer -  I believe all of us deserve the care and love she received in hospice.  Events like Women Swimmin’ can help make that happen. Please consider donating to any of the swimmers and paddlers.
