After a five year break, I’m excited to get back in the water for this year’s Women Swimmin’ fundraising event that supports Hospicare and ensures that it thrives as the vibrant community asset it has become.

My swim this year, as in years past, will be in honor of my mother, Carmela, seen below with me in Cass Park pool 15 years ago. She was always up for having fun, was a terrific joke teller, a true artist, and was the most welcoming of souls I can imagine. I will swim for her, for my beloved father, James, and friends and family members no longer with us. My siblings and I are most grateful for the compassionate end-of-life care Hospicare provided for Carmela and James. It made all the difference.

Donating is easy (see that blue "Donate Now" button on the right?) and the money raised by this event makes a huge difference! Your support ensures Hospicare will be able to fulfill its commitment to remain a not-for-profit organization and ensure that it has the resources needed to provide compassionate end-of-life care such as:

• Providing vital medications to ease pain and manage symptoms

• Providing specialized medical equipment so that patients can stay at home

• Training volunteers to deliver complementary therapies

• Offering grief counseling

• Providing around-the-clock care to Hospicare residents
