Hi Family, Friends and Neighbors:
Swimming across Cayuga Lake to raise money for Hospicare combines 2 things about which I'm passionate - swimming and the importance of having a 'good' end of life for the individual and those that love them.
Swimming has been an importnat part of my life for a very long time, from being a life guard as a teenager to swimming as a refuge from the academic stress at Cornell to swimming as a way to exericse and heal from an injury during Covid. I've long loved swimming in the ocean in Rhode Island and now in Cayuga Lake.
Over the last 7 years, my father, my sister and my brother have passed away, all in challenging circumstances without comfort or closure. Those experiences have made me deeply understand the value of Hospicare, an organizaton providing the opportunity for comfort, connection, and closure for both individuals and their families. It is an opportunity that would have meant the world to me.
It brings me special joy to swim for Hospicare, knowing it provides healing during one of the most difficult times of life and delighting in the chance to swim in the cool clean waters of Cayuga Lake amidst the beauty of Ithaca and the Finger Lakes.
Please know how much I would appreciate your support.
Warmly,
Lisa
