I'm a former full time caregiver for my mom, who was comatose for almost nine years before she ultimately passed away. I never realized how often people end up in comas (whether due to medical reasons or because it was medically induced) until my mom was comatose. During my time taking care of her, I learned a lot about coma, the type of care that comatose patients need, and the hurdles that their caregivers have to navigate. My hope with this campaign is to get a step closer to understanding coma and having viable treatments for comatose patients. Caregivers shouldn't have to just "wait" or worse, "pull the plug".
