New short story - Calculation of Carnage - a robotic horror

The bird’s eyes put my senses on high alert. They were soulless. Two small black beads with unfathomable depths. This was a creature who achieved its goals with little concern for the sentients around it. When I first noticed the bird lurking beside the top shelf tequila, I thought it was stuffed, it was so still. When its head cocked in my direction, I jerked back, then raised my beer in acknowledgment, not too much though, still unsure if the bird was real and not wanting to call attention to myself by saying cheers to the bar decor.
Squawk.
The barkeep scowled and glanced upward. “Which one?”
The bird tilted his head toward me again.
