Sonee's First Write-a-thon!

I am thrilled to be participating in this, my very first Write-A-Thon and have been getting so much out of this. As some of you may know, I've been revisiting my old pal Writing these days, taking writing classes and just trying to give myself challenges in this realm. It is with the most humble gratitude that I thank the fine folks of Clarion West for hosting this.

My Writing Goals

  • Write 2000 words each week (Doing it every stinkin week!)
  • Rough drafts of at least two chapters of untitled science-fiction novel (It's all pretty rough!)

What I Write

 

I am currently working on three projects. The first is a "paleo-fiction" peice that explores how a population of Neandertals deal with climate change and population shifts. Finally, I found something that makes use of my degree in evolutionary anthropology. Another is about a young girl who decides to run away from home and live on her version of Fantasy Island. During this Write-A-Thon, I will dedicate most of my energy to working on my third project. This work follows some unique space travelers who come to a planet that was once called earth... Hilarity ensues at some point. So far, the visitors have met ravens who worked to convince them they created everything on the planet (or at least were a party to it) and met some remnant human populations who fall in love with them or try to kill them.

The future holds some more exciting community college writing classes and if I can keep up my current writing routine, perhaps a more intensive writing workshop next year?
