My Personal Fundraising Page
This year, I am participating in the Walk to End Hunger on November 28th to raise money for the Meals on Wheels program at Keystone Community Services. Keystone MOW serves an average of 75 meals to seniors and people with disabilities every day, helping them remain independent and age in place rather than move into an assisted living facility or a nursing home.
For many of our clients (ages 43 to 104), our meals help them maintain a healthy diet, and our delivery volunteers are often the only person they see in a given day. By providing a healthy meal delivered by a friendly face, we're helping to combat malnutrition and loneliness at the same time. Not only does this improve our clients' quality of life, it is also cost-effective; for every dollar spent on programs like Meals on Wheels, we as a nation save $5 in Medicare spending due to improved client health and decreased risk of falls. In fact, we can serve a senior or person with a disability for an entire year for about the same cost as one day in a hospital or ten days in a nursing home.
I hope you can support this fundraising effort. Together we can help ensure that seniors and people with disabilities have the food assistance and social interaction they need.
