Hunger Solutions Minnesota

Hunger Solutions Minnesota works to end hunger in our state. We take action to assure food security for all Minnesotans by supporting programs and agencies that provide food to those in need, advancing sound public policy, and guiding grassroots advocacy.

Loaves and Fishes

Loaves and Fishes serves free, healthy meals to Minnesotans in areas where the need is greatest. We offer a variety of meal programs at more than 90 outlets including: public dining, street outreach, student meals and snacks, free produce markets, and a new HUB program for small organizations. We grow fresh produce at our own local farm and gardens and rescue leftover, nutritious food from schools, organizations and businesses. We are always guided by our vision that all people, regardless of socioeconomic, cultural, religious or ethnic background, deserve to meet their basic needs for food, dignity and respect. We served a record-breaking one million meals in 2018 and expect to serve 1.3 million healthy meals to food insecure Minnesotans in 2019.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels is a community-based service that provides fresh, nutritious meals delivered directly to the homes of seniors and individuals with disabilities throughout the Twin Cities. In addition to regularly providing healthy foods, caring volunteers provide social connection that helps meal recipients remain living independently in their own homes.

VEAP

VEAP is a basic needs organization whose programs include access to healthy foods, social services, housing stability and supportive services. VEAP takes a holistic approach to program delivery together with its strategic partners to build a stronger community.

Minnesota Food Share

Minnesota FoodShare engages thousands of Minnesotans annually via the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign, food insecurity education and awareness efforts, and state and federal advocacy efforts supporting programs that address poverty and food insecurity.

The Food Group

For more than 40 years The Food Group has worked to provide good foods to those who need it most in our community. We focus on local food access, equity, and nutrition issues related to food and hunger in more than 32 counties in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The Food Group works on both ends of the food system from production to distribution. Working towards building a better local food system for all, we focus on breaking down barriers to growing good food locally and breaking down barriers to getting good food to those who need it most.

Second Harvest Heartland

Second Harvest Heartland believes no one should ever go hungry, as our region produces more than enough food for everyone. Helping hungry neighbors find their next meal—so they can thrive at work, in the classroom and in their communities—is what drives Second Harvest Heartland, its partners and supporters. Beyond feeding hungry neighbors, Second Harvest Heartland believes in the importance of our work to help sustain our environment.

Keystone Community Services

We deliver high-quality, evidence-based services in neighborhood gathering places that make our community stronger.

Neighbors, Inc.

Neighbors, Inc. is a non-profit, social-service agency providing emergency assistance and supportive assistance programs to low-income community members in the northern Dakota County communities of Inver Grove Heights, South St. Paul, West St. Paul, Mendota Heights, Mendota, Sunfish Lake and Lilydale.

House of Charity

Right from the start, in the early 1950s, House of Charity has been about transforming lives…one person at a time. Our founder, Brother de Paul, responded to the need he saw around him by providing food and shelter to the poor in Minneapolis. Since its beginnings on Nicollet Island, House of Charity has been located at several sites in downtown Minneapolis, and moved to its current location at 510 South 8th Street in 1976. Once a hotel, the building now houses 116 men and women who have experienced homelessness.
