Our Team Fundraising Page

This walk is for EVERYONE!

This team is organized through Beth Jacob Congregation, a welcoming, egalitarian Conservative synagogue in Mendota Heights, Minnesota. We are guided by Torah (study), Avodah (meaningful worship and work), and Gemilut Chasidim (acts of loving kindness). It is in the spirit of who we are as a synagogue that we form a team for this walk each year.

We are committed to this fundraising effort together, and to being on this journey of addressing food insecurity socially and systemically together.

We welcome all of our friends and family and loved ones - Jewish and not Jewish - to join us. This work is best done together.

BETH JACOB TEAM BONUS! Ever heard of the Israel National Trail? It stretches from Kibbutz Dan, near the Israel-Lebanon border, to Eilat on the Gulf of Aqaba. It was named by National Geographic as one of the 20 most "epic hiking trails" in the world and it is 683 miles long. Starting November 1 we will keep a record of how many miles we “walk” – “walk” defined as moving on wheels (bike, chair, etc.) or propelled by our legs. Every WEDNESDAY please go to this form: Beth-Jacob.org/Miles and log your miles.

It's November 26th and we've made it to Mitzpe Ramon! Over 450 miles on the Israel National Trail! So wonderful to be at the crater with you!

Previous update: As of 11.18.20 we have traveled 212.8 miles on the Israel National Trail! We started at Kibbutz Dan, hiked through the Galilee, past Tiberias, and then went west toward the sea. Now we are headed toward Caesarea after a stop at Carmel Mountain National Park near Haifa! This week we hiked through Tel Aviv and Jerusalem (with stops at beaches and at the Kotel), and then onward toward Be'er Sheva!

Thank you for playing along and thank you for joining the team!

We will ALSO get together on zoom at 9:15am on Thursday November 26 (Thanksgiving morning) for a quick text study about Jewish perspectives on food insecurity before the 10am virtual Walk to End Hunger Event. Beth-Jacob.org/HungerStudy. Everyone is welcome for that, too! Please contact the synagogue if there is an accommodation that would make joining possible or friendlier for you.

Okay, y'all!  Let's get moving!
