"CHARLIE'S STORY"

OUR FAMILY IS ALL IN...AND THIS IS WHY WE WALK

My name is Bryan Ellsworth and I am an Employment Coordinator for NuPath Inc. in Woburn MA. My wife Paula and I are fervent supporters of NuPath and Walk the Walk...but why do we do this? Here's my story...."Charlie's Story".

My passion for the work I do everyday started close to 7 years ago when I lost one of the most influential people in my life, my Dad "Charlie". Along with my loving and supportive family, I cared for my Dad in the years leading up to his passing. I was always very close with my father and I still (and always will) love him with all my heart. My Dad and I, in the months leading up to his passing, would have conversations about his wanting me to do something with my life that would not only make me happy but something that would utilize my skills and help to make the world a better place for both my family and others; something he felt my brother Ken, my mom, my wife Paula and I had done for him.
My Dad passed on October 18, 2012. I felt lost and didn't know what to do with my life. Over the next year though my life began to drastically change....I began to emerge from my depression and sense of loss to find that I felt a burning desire to help others around me who couldn't help themselves as my Dad couldn't at the end. I began searching out different career paths looking for something that I could relate with. I had worked many jobs but never anything that would make my Dad proud of me and make a difference in the world of those around me. Then I found NuPath. NuPath's mission to help those living with disabilities lead a more happy and fulfilling life was exactly what I had needed.
I began my work in the Autism Program at NuPath in April of 2014 and quickly realized that I could not only help others better themselves in their own lives but that these incredibly special people I was meeting..well, they were helping me to heal as well....they were making a difference in my life.
A year later my son Charlie was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It all became clear to me....Charlie was a gift to my family, he wasn't even supossed to make it through the pregnancy as he was so small and being a twin, was crushed in the womb by his brother...Charlie was my Dad's gift to the world.....an inspiration to me, our family and to everyone who meets him. My Dad inspired me to do more with my life when he was here and now Charlie, along with Deven, Rayna, my niece Madison, my brother Ken, my mother Ellie and my wife Paula, continues to serve as the inspiration my Dad wanted me to have. Everyday now, I make it a point to do something to inspire and improve the lives of the individuals I serve but what they don't realize is that they are the ones who are helping me to become everything I have been inspired to become.
Please consider a generous donation to NuPath during this years Walk The Walk, whether to my name or any of the amazing people who work with me each day. Every penny goes to supporting the lives of those who far too often are marginalized in our world and need it the most...and I promise to continue my personal mission of improving the lives of each and every one of your sons, daughters, brothers and sisters that I have the honor and pleasure of serving each and every day! So POWER UP and DONATE today because together WE GOT THIS!!!!
