This year, I get to celebrate 50 years at Over the Edge with my Notre Dame Pasquerilla East friends. That's 32 years and counting of friendship and most of us turn 50 in 2021 plus we can kick off YSB's 50th anniversary celebrations at little early (YSB turns 50 in 2022). This marks my 4th time rapelling for YSB and raising funds to support shelter and outreach programs for runaway and homeless youth. I worked for YSB years ago and have served as a board member for the last 9, serving as board secretary and now as board president. I have stayed involved at YSB because I know they make a  critical difference to so many kids and families in our area by providing emergency shelter, case management, counseling, and transitional living programs to kids 12 to 25 years old.

Like me, you probably know someone whose life changed forever because of poor choices and life circumstances - addiction, teen pregnancy, abuse of all kinds, rejection, bullying, and poverty to name a few. YSB helps thousands of kids each year who deal with these challenges, and we provide stability and security so they can focus on their education, developing life, job, and parenting skills, and work towards a self-sufficient future. These are critical services and connections that sometimes families or schools can't provide. As a mom of 4 boys ages 8 to 20, I know first hand how hard the teen years can be and am grateful YSB exists as a safety net to kids and families who need extra help.
