Mission Statement
The Zack Heger Foundation was founded for and now remains in memory of Zack Heger who struggled and lost his long and brave battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy May 3, 2022 at age 29.
While the ZHF mission was initially founded to fund a cure for DMD and improve the lives of those with MD, we have shifted our purpose to focus on methods of improving accessibility and inclusivity to all people.

Brian & Stephanie Schwartz will be running for the Zack Heger Foundation. Please read below for why they are running!
Stephanie: I first met Zack when he was 5 years old. He was a vibrant, energetic, little boy with a cute smile who would come into the PT office to bounce on the mini trampoline. I watched him grow into a caring, bright young man with an amazing outlook on life.
I am running to celebrate and honor Zack. His smile will motivate all of us as we run through each mile. I’m running to raise awareness of the challenges that anyone with a physical disability can face. Disabilities can come in many forms and I’m running to make a difference for everyone.
Zack’s ability to face the daily challenges of living with DMD is truly inspiring. I have been inspired to run and raise money for a very worthy cause. I am thrilled that Team Z-Man will be running with Zack’s inspiration and memory, every step of the way!
Brian: I have known Zack for about 20 years and had the privilege to get to know him. I realized pretty quickly that he always had a smile on his face and a zest for life that few could match. It always amazed me to see his constant positivity. I could always count on talking about the latest and greatest new cars! If you had the privilege of meeting Zack, you couldn’t help but love him and his passion for life.
Zack’s ability to face tremendous challenges on a daily basis has always been and continue to be an inspiration to me. I am running to continue to bring awareness and raise money for people that face different challenges in their lives.
