Mission Statement
The Zack Heger Foundation was founded for and now remains in memory of Zack Heger who struggled and lost his long and brave battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy May 3, 2022 at age 29.   

While the ZHF mission was initially founded to fund a cure for DMD and improve the lives of those with MD, we have shifted our purpose to focus on methods of improving accessibility and inclusivity to all people.  

Tammy is running for the Zack Heger Foundation. Please read below for why she is running for this cause!

Hi! I am running for Team Z-Man because I find Zack and his family to be an inspiration. Zack was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) at the age of 3. This is not something any 3-year-old should have to deal with, but deal with it he did. With the love and support of his mom, Margie, and his dad, Rodney, Zack always pushed on. He didn’t let his diagnosis define him, nor did his folks. They fought back by moving on with life. They created a world for Zack that was normal as could be for a young boy (and later a young man) inflicted with DMD. They encouraged him on to new adventures, supported his choices, and even created the Zack Heger Foundation to raise funds to support research so that a cure for this fatal disease might one day be found. Sadly, Zack lost his battle with DMD on May 3 of this year. One of Zack’s wishes was to have a park that was built to be inclusive of those with disabilities requiring special equipment such as the wheelchair Zack used to be mobile. A park where dogs/pets could also run and play alongside their owners who require this level of accessibility. What a fantastic way to celebrate and honor this young man.
