Our story:

We found out we were pregnant on September 30th, 2019 and were so excited! Emma was even more excited, as she had been asking for a baby for months! It was a textbook pregnancy. Heart beat was always good, 20 week ultrasound was great and he was measuring on track. On April 15th, 2020, we had our 32 week check up. Anthony had a good heartbeat but was measuring a few weeks behind. I scheduled a growth ultrasound for 36 weeks. Two days later on Friday April 17th, I noticed that I wasn't feeling Anthony move. Emma laid down for her nap and I laid on the couch and drank some orange juice hoping to get my kick count in. After an hour I had only felt one movement. I started to worry and called the nurse line.  They advised me to go to labor and delivery to get checked out but that this happens sometimes.  Baby is probably just in a weird position is what I was told. Due to Covid, I went to L&D by myself. I got in my gown and the doctor came in with a doppler.  She was unable to find a heartbeat, so got an ultrasound machine. It was then that I saw my sweet boy with a still heart. I was told I'm so sorry but there is no heartbeat.  Radiology came in and confirmed and I was sent home to process and grieve with Gill and Emma before I had to be induced the next day.  To say we were shattered is an understatement.

My wonderful parents took Emma while Gill and I went to the hospital.  Our sweet Anthony Charles Gill was born sleeping at 9:58 pm on April 18th 2020, weighing 2 lbs. 4 oz. and 15 inches long. We spent time with him, loving him, memorizing everything about him, holding him, and grieving the little boy we would never get to see grow up. We eventually had to say goodbye and left the hospital the next morning with empty hands and broken hearts.

We later found out that Anthony's death was ruled an umbilical cord accident due to an umbilical thrombosis (blood clot in the umbilical cord). Both Anthony and I were tested for any and all reasons that this may have happened and there is no answer.

We couldn't be more thankful for our sweet Emma Grace who has kept us busy, kept us present, and reminded us that there is still so much good in this world.  She is the best big sister and talks about her brother Anthony daily. Our friends and family have been the greatest support to us and we are so appreciative.

Here's why we are raising funds:

The Gill family has been attending the Hope and Hearts run for many years after our sweet friends, the Wisniowski's, son Theo was stillborn. The walk was a way that we could support our friends and support a great organization that supports families dealing with a loss.

Our family will be doing our virtual walk the week of September 6th! We hope you will join us!
