Overall four years ago, I made the decision to join a wonderful organization and help spearhead the Union Home Mortgage Foundation - since that time, we've developed a mission that I couldn't be prouder of - to equip families with the tools and resources to achieve economic self-sufficiency. 

Sounds big, right? So, what have we done so far towards this mission? Since our inception, we've awarded over $1M to support nonprofits in the areas of financial literacy, housing, career readiness and education - what we believe are four key building blocks that can guide a family on the path towards homeownership, but better yet stability and success.

In addition, we've started programs of our own to help families and individuals directly by:

-offering financial literacy workshops around topics like understanding credit and how to become a homeowner

-developing courses that teach high schoolers the soft skills they need to launch into their career successfully and learn about roles within the mortgage industry that they would've never heard of before. 

This year, we are expanding our programs further by piloting a "welcome home" basket program to support those transitioning from homelessness with items they might need to get started.
