I was diagnosed with Autism on May 24, 2021 at just over 2 years old. Some of the typical Autism indicators I was exhibiting were: non verbal, little to no eye contact, motor stereotypy (stimming), no interest in playing with toys and no interest in social interaction with other children.
In August of 2021 I started receiving ABA services in home and at daycare, along with the OT and speech therapy I had already been receiving through Early Intervention. When I turned 3 in February of 2022 I began going to the full time ABA center based school program where I continued working one on one with my ABA therapist and started seeing a new speech therapist.
Since my diagnosis and thanks to the amazing people who work with me daily, I am now making eye contact, responding to my name, interacting with other children, understanding functional use of toys and using an electronic device for communication. I also started potty training and have been doing great!
My Mom, Dad and I signed up for the Flutie Foundation 5k to raise Autism awareness and to end the stigma behind it. Please help us reach our goal!
Love,
Lucas
