I was diagnosed with leukemia on May 11, 2021. After over two years in treatment, I rang the bell on August 17, 2023. However, my cancer journey did not end there. I still have follow-up visits every three months. I also did a year and a half of physical therapy and needed ankle/foot braces to help with stress fractures caused as a side effect the steroids I needed during treatment. For awhile, even walking as difficult! I receive tutoring to help with the cognitive effects from over two years of chemotherapy. Now I am working hard to graduate from KCES in May and to compete on my Bronze level gymnastics team!
ASK has fully supported by journey and provides the tutoring services that I am still using. They also arrange amazing activities where I can bond with other ASK families like the ASK Christmas party and ASK Camp. They give kids in active treatment a small toy after each visit and help provide Christmas presents during active treatment.
