Why I Walk

In the United States, it comes to no surprise that women of color are four times more likely to suffer the disparities of preeclampsia in comparison to their counterparts. There is a major gap of care, and this is based on race ethnicity in the shortcoming of the healthcare system, according to the national library of medicine. There is a major lack of access to proper healthcare and resources for low income women as well contributing greatly to preeclampsia and the education surrounding it. 70,000 deaths were accounted for due to preeclampsia in the United States alone. As a healthcare provider and Doula is my ethical obligation to do everything that I can to advocate, educate and make a difference, hopefully for each and every individual, especially those who are at higher risk of negligence and falling through the cracks I hope with this fundraiser for preeclampsia in honor of Takesha and her son who experienced a very significant case of preeclampsia, I can make a small impact to better the future outcomes and statistics. Please consider donating to this beautiful cause to increase the research and education surrounding a preeclampsia and equal access to healthcare for everybody I am excited to be a part of this journey in her on our walk and I feel lucky to hopefully make a positive impact on the community that I care so much about
