This will be my ninth Walk for Wellness House and the ninth year since my first of three cancer diagnoses:  bilateral breast cancer, uterine cancer and melanoma.  I am happy to say that I am now cancer-free!

My first Walk was 8 days before my ten hour surgery, and it was was perfect send off.  To be surrounded by so much love, so very many thriving people living with cancer and so much support was essential to my recovery.  I've participated in support groups, as did my children when I was first diagnosed.  This support was essential for their understanding of my diagnosis and what life would be like after it.  We faced my illnesses bravely as a family.   Wellness House helped to make our family stronger by giving us the tools and knowledge we needed.

I also participated in nutrition, cancer education and exercise classes.  The exercise classes keep me going to this day.   Wellness House is a soft place to land in a terrifying time.  It continues to be welcoming and supportive in my survivorship.

I walk to support those who supported me and to pave the way for those who will need that support in the future.  I also walk in memory of those beautiful souls I have met and lost along the way.

Wellness House provides complete cancer care - every step of the way. Whether you have cancer, or you are caring for a friend or family member who is diagnosed with cancer, all are welcome at Wellness House. More than 520 programs are provided each month, both online and in person, to improve physical and emotional well-being and give people with cancer a support network like no other. 

Because of the Walk, and the generous donations of individuals and businesses, everything at Wellness House is provided free of charge, providing one less thing to worry about when struggling with a cancer.
