Our sweet Jamesy Bud was a silly, smiley boy, beloved twin brother to Nolan and little brother to Hensley, and the light of his mom and dad’s lives. He was an amazing snuggler, with his large, loving extended family always fighting over who got to hold him next. He was also a brave brain cancer warrior.

Diagnosed at just eight months old, James endured months of intense chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, and setbacks. Through it all, he fought with his signature smile and a twinkle in his bright blue eyes.

My sister Amy and brother-in-law Matt showed incredible strength in the face of overwhelming fear, stress, financial strain, and uncertainty during long hospital stays and daily treatments. Their medical team provided exceptional care and compassion, but the burden was immense, and we knew they needed more support.

That’s when we turned to ASK Children’s Cancer Foundation. Within days, James became an ASK kid, and a network of meaningful support and resources surrounded our family. During a time when everything seemed so hard and every battle was uphill, the ASK team’s immediate and whole-hearted response was a relief.

Our time with ASK was far too short, but their impact was profound. They made it simple to access critical financial support during an incredibly complex and overwhelming time. Because of generous donors, ASK was able to step in and provide the assistance we needed to plan the most beautiful Day of Remembrance for our Jamesy. A day that everyone who was lucky to love and be loved by him will never forget.
