Dempsey Center and its founder have a very special place in my heart. They've taught me about the vital role support plays in a person's life. In 2006, I was a care partner for my grandmother who passed away from stomach cancer that year. I was also a married single mother with a part time job in a relationship with a narcissist, and the rest of my family had their own issues. Support wasn't something I recognized as being an option for me. I was in Oklahoma and of course, Dempsey Center didn't exist until 2 years later. It was only after I discovered Dempsey Center in 2022 when it rekindled a 16 year old passion for the pharmacy world by reminding me of my caregiving journey that I started to feel what having support meant. A feeling that was cemented when I met Dempsey Center's founder(my personal hero for non-cancer related reasons) in person at the Champions for Hope reception in 2023. I actually cried on the way home when it hit me that the feeling of true support had been missing from my life. I finally realized how vital having support is. And it is my honor and privelege to support Dempsey Center through Dempsey Challenge.

The Dempsey Challenge is the premiere fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Dempsey Center makes life better for people impacted by cancer by easing the side effects of cancer by improving their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at any point in their cancer journey--all at no cost.
