My first AIDS Walk was in Atlanta Georgia in 2006. I merely walked with a friend at the time, but that is where I fell in love with the work it does for the community. Today, I continue that work here in Hawaii. The Hawaii Health and Harm Reduction Center (HHHRC) does so much for our community. Many of their efforts include:
HIV Medical Case Management
Transgender Services
Hepatitis Care Coordination
Assistance for seeking health insurance
Syringe Exchange
Overdose Prevention
Medical Mobile Unit
Wound Care
Food Drop
Clincial Services
The list goes on. They help so many people in so many ways. This is a great opportunity to give back to them. With federal funding being cut left and right, we need to support agencies like this who are doing what they can to help the community.
