I was lucky enough to have Jim as my corps member advisor. He taught me the basics and gave feedback over and over, so patiently, through my first (incredibly bumpy and painful!) weeks of teaching. More importantly, he told me he knew I'd figure it out and be a good teacher, and I believed him. For our little group, Jim's calm support and unwavering belief in what could accomplish for our kids was transformational for us-- not just for that summer in Houston, but for the rest of our careers and lives.
