Yelp Charlotte Community

Hello all, Nikki here. For those who may not know me, I am the Sr Community Director for Yelp Charlotte. Every year, I always use my July and August Yelp events as school supply drives for Classroom Central. Life obviously looks a little (okay, a lot) different this year and events IRL are on hold. Just because we've all pivoted to a virtual world, it doesn't mean that any student should be left behind. These kids need us now more than ever. Every little bit helps.

2) Shop school supplies online (without leaving your couch). There's options to fully equip an entire class or a group of 20 students, plus the option to individually purchase the 9 most needed school supplies.

Classroom Central equips students in need to effectively learn by collecting and distributing free school supplies to their teachers. We serve teachers and students in nearly 200 schools across six school districts in the Charlotte Region.

While most of our region’s students will be learning remotely, a computer with wifi isn’t the only supply they’ll need. Remote students will still take notes with pens, pencils and paper. They’ll need pocket folders, binders, and backpacks to stay organized. And they’ll take art class with crayons, markers, and glue. Remote learning has actually increased our community’s need for supplies because classrooms can no longer share materials, and now even more families are experiencing financial hardships.
