I've always loved animals and felt a heartwarming connection to them.  Though when I was young, I had no idea how they got to my plate, but little by little I started to make the connection. After some gut-wrenching realizations about the unnecessary cruelty that innocent animals endure simply for human pleasure, I made a change to my lifestyle.  I went vegan.  I'm more proud of this profound choice than anything in my life. Every day I am conscious of how my decisions impact others and at every opportunity, I choose kindness.  My heart feels kinder and my spirit feels lighter knowing that I now truly live in alignment with my values.

But being vegan isn’t enough for me or the animals.  Canada has some of the worst animal protection laws in the western world.  Animals are exploited en masse for food, entertainment, fashion and research, and pets are abused without consequence.  Knowing this, it’s easy to lose hope in humanity and in the fight for animal rights. 

After joining Animal Justice as their Event Manager, I found renewed hope that legal teams and advocates have the ability to make great change.  The lawyers at Animal Justice dedicate their lives to speaking out on behalf of animals, landing national media coverage and educating others at every possible opportunity.  They are fighting to transform Canada’s legal and political system, which is where lasting change happens. 

#Voiceless4AnimalJustice is a crowd fundraising campaign to support Animal Justice’s mission to combat cruelty and transform the legal and political system to increase protections for animals in Canada.

In support of this initiative, I will be taking a 24 hour vow of silence to raise awareness for the animals who are silenced by industries, courts and politicians in this country.
