This year, to give homeless animals a second chance, our team is proud to participate in the 15th annual Bark on the Beach at Narragansett Town Beach. This event raises critical funds for Animal Rescue Rhode Island (ARRI) and helps care for more than 500 pets each year. Will you help?

My first Bark on the Beach was in 2022, when a group of my cousins and our dogs formed a team called The Usual Pupspects. We won Best Group Name, placed third in team fundraising, and later discovered, when ARRI’s promotional photographs appeared, that several of us had apparently been raising pet models all along. 

This year, some of us are back as The Sandy Paws and Green Thumbs Society. 

I recently spoke with ARRI’s Jeanine Conrady about what goes into Bark on the Beach and, more importantly, what happens beyond the walk: the volunteers, community partnerships, and year-round work that make ARRI much more than a place animals pass through.
