For me, Soccer Without Borders has always been about more than soccer. It's about creating opportunities for young people to feel supported, develop their potential, and become leaders in their communities.
Over the past five years at Tennyson High School, I’ve had the privilege of watching our young people grow into confident, generous leaders.
Funding cuts have made things tougher over the last two years, forcing us to rely much more on individual donations to keep our programs going. But our alumni give me so much hope.
This summer, former SWB Tennyson players stepped up to coach our free elementary soccer camp for rising 6th and 7th graders. Seeing them mentor the next generation proved that our program’s impact extends far past graduation.
That inspired my next big goal: building a pipeline that trains former participants to become the next generation of SWB coaches, especially women leaders. My dream is for every SWB program in Hayward to be led by the very alumni who grew up in them.
I’m participating in the Small Goals Big Change tournament to raise funds for this vision.
If you believe in investing in young people, newcomer communities, and future leaders, please consider donating. Every gift helps, and sharing this page means the world.
Thank you for supporting SWB Tennyson and our incredible youth!
