Why I support BNB
I first volunteered with Bikes Not Bombs in 2003, when I developed an interest in biking as a way to get around Boston as a college student. I volunteered in the office once a week, and helped out with the shop once a week. I was struck by the ways BNB engages youth. BNB provides youth with a safe space, helping them to develop healthy lifestyles and grow their voices and identities as they grow their bicycle repair skills. As I learned more about BNB's international work, I was amazed by the partnerships they developed to share bikes that were part of the waste stream in the United States but were highly valued in other countries.
Bikes Not Bombs' mission to use the bicycle as a vehicle for social change to achieve economic mobility for Black and other marginalized people in Boston and the Global South is as important today as it was 20 years ago. Please join me in supporting the important work BNB does locally and abroad!

Using the skills I developed as a Master Technician, in 2017 I raised money for BNB by trading bike repair in the neighborhood for donations to BNB (reach out if you'd like to arrange this!)
I gave my partner Sarah a tandem for our wedding. The tandem was donated to BNB's used bike supply, and my purchase of the bike raised money for BNB! BNB is a great place to get a refurbished bicycle, where youth apprentices work to refurbish bicycles side by side with professional mechanics.
