You have probably heard from me before about Bikes Not Bombs--I think this is my 14th ride for them!

BNB is a great local organization--VERY local, based in my own neighborhood of Jamaica Plain in Boston. They have a regular bike shop where I have bought used bikes and take my bike to get fixed by their excellent mechanics. These excellent mechanics also teach youth in Boston how to work on bikes. The kids who come regularly get to build their own bike and keep it!  What a nice sense of accomplishment for them.

BNB also acts internationally, breaking down used bikes and their components and shipping them to low income countries in Central America, the Caribbean, and Africa. Bikes in these countries are an environmentally sound and affordable means of transportation (as they are in our country!).
